200 chapatis (Indian bread) were tied to the various branches of a tree near the Women’s hostel in the University of Hyderabad campus. Taking reference from the idea of Kalpavriksha- a wish-fulfilling divine tree in Hindu mythology, the work was a reaction to my personal experience of adapting oneself to the new culture of a place, while becoming a part of it. The chapatis were ordered from the nearby canteen, and were displayed out of reach for students and passers by.
