PURE was done during the 1-monthYatoo international residency, in Wongol, a small village in South Korea. Most of the time of the residency was being spent in nature, wandering in the nearby fields and trekking the hills. Frequent visits to the nearby city presented a contrast and the transition that a place goes through in becoming more developed. In reflection of this, Soy soup was prepared using the traditional and local recipe and was offered to the viewers on the Open day. Bread pieces were roasted and were arranged in the soup bowls with the word PURE/INNOCENCE. The viewers were asked to pour the soup into the bowls consuming it, leading to distortion of the word.
